The Russian tennis star Daniel Medvedev continued his superb form as he won his fourth title of the year and second Masters. He comfortably defeated his German counterpart Alexander Zverev in straight sets.
This comfortable 6-1, 6-4 victory over Zevrev meant that he will continue to be world’s number four. He is being looked up as a serious challenger for the top three Djokovic, Nadal and Federer, who seem to have a comfortable run for well over a decade now. He has shown great improvement in his performance this year and yes been performing terrifically well after Wimbledon.
This victory means a lot to Daniil. He was beaten by Zevrev every time they met before this one. But this year, Medvedev has shown remarkable improvement in the performance. He gave absolutely no chance to the German and was in the control the match throughout. The two consecutive double faults in the concluding part of the match vouch for his dominance in the match.
Medvedev won the Cincinnati Masters and was the runner-up in the US Open where he came very close to defeating Rafael Nadal and win his first ever Grand Slam title. Still in the early twenties, the future holds very promising for him. It is yet to be seen if he can continue his good form and ultimately win a Grand Slam title that has been eluding the young guns of tennis for quite some time now.
Daniel is a man of few words and is known to not celebrating his events in a big way. He looked happy and is all geared up for the upcoming tournaments. So keep a good watch at him in the ATP finals this year and maybe we are going to see a new champion in the last Tennis tournament of the year.
